Artist Statement
As an artist I specialize in realisistic representational art and portrait art. Representational art is art in which I express myself with a re-creation of the appearance of real life.
Every one of my pieces is a self expression as an artist. I generally like to express a personal sense of beauty, personal feelings, an emotion, an idea, an experiece, an opinion, and/or my views on things that occur in my life or life in general. All these things are what I express as an artist. My works are also created directly from the imagination without the use of models or photos. I often go off of references, a sketch, or memory for a particular scene or for fine details.
As an artist I also enjoy fine tuning my skill. For it is not just the expressive aspect that makes me an artist but also the application of skill and technigue, which is the means of which I express myself. My art is the combination of expression an application of skill. These two elements constitute my work. I am a natural draftsman and my entire art began and still begins with my love of drawing. I have been drawing ever since I was a toddler and didn't begin painting until my mid-teens.
I took up the application of oil painting on canvas because I felt, as I still feel today, that oil paint holds a quality that best satisfies me in execution and as a finished product more so than any other medium. To me oil paint is a very robust, versatile, and pliant medium. And as for canvases, I love their durability and texture.
I think one of the things that stands out about my work is my attention to detail. I try not to omit fine details like small objects or writings on particular objects because I think small details like that can sometimes tell you more about the characters in the picture and more about the scene. Applying all of that attention to detail and executing the appearance of realism can sometimes be a very arduous, tedious and painstaking process but that's what makes my work all the more fun.
