My photography career began as a hobby when I was a college freshman over fifty years ago and continued as a member of the U.S. Army in Germany, where I had access to excellent darkroom equipment. During the next thirty years, my career doing scientific microscopy took precedence over photography, to which I have returned since retirement from Michigan State University fifteen years ago.
My interests are eclectic. We have traveled widely throughout many states and several foreign countries, and my cameras are always present. For many years I took both color slides and black and white photos, but for the past several years, I have focused exclusively on black and white. I still enjoy the process of using film and chemistry in my darkroom, where each photograph is a unique creation. I also do all my own matting and framing. It is my challenge and pleasure to help keep an older art form alive and well.
My work has been displayed at many Mid-Michigan Art Guild shows, as well as the Christian Art Show, the Hope Borbas Library in Okemos, the Shiawassee Art Council in Owosso, other venues in the Lansing area, and elsewhere.
